Overall planning of bridging activity for major pmt bridges in the organization, laying down of priorities and policies, and some specialized works within the ambit of technical support available with the Dte.
Study of site data as submitted by CE Projects, related to major pmt bridges, to choose the site out of the possible alternatives including site visit.
Prepare scheme for Sub soil Investigation (SSI) and act as coordinating agency with Projects for SSI.
Study of SSI Report, cores submitted duly scrutinized by CE, Project and model studies where required.
Finalisation of design parameters and bridge scheme for tender/departmental construction.
Technical scrutiny of bridge approaches, protective work estimates wherever called for.
Preparation of technical specifications and drawing for incorporation in tender documents/vetting of draft tender for bridge.
Technical scrutiny of the competitive scheme given by various tenderers, wherever required.
Technical discussions with tenderers, where required.
Check of detailed design calculation and analysis of all drawings before approval.
Technical discussion/scrutiny of problems arising during execution in different Projects.Site visits and modification of design.
Technical check of Proposals of minor pmt bridges and Bailey bridges as and when case is referred to bridging Dte for technical advice.
Monitor progress of construction both for departmental execution and through contracts.
Technical study of claims of contractor, render advice during arbitration if any.
Co-ordination with technical and research bodies for special problems.
Besides above planning & execution of various activities of Rohtang Tunnel has been entrusted to this Date.
